BASELINE SURVEYS AT PROJECT PILOT SITES

Under the knowledge base component, addressing the food insecurity persisting amongst the low-income proportion inhabiting the rural and under developed areas in Sri Lanka and pilot site development program; the project conducted baseline studies for determining the status of agro-biodiversity, dietary diversity, impact on food security at household level in the given food production system, socio-economic status and associated traditional knowledge in three selected pilot sites representing three different eco-systems in Sri Lanka. The selected pilot sites include the tank-based system in Gampola, Giribawa village; Kandyan home garden, cascading system in Ududumbara, Udukumbura village and Owita system in Niunhella village, Kegalle. Baseline surveys were conducted in partner with the University of Peradeniya, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka.
