“Sri Lanka Next – Blue-Green Era” Exhibition, International Research Symposium & 5th Asia Pacific Adaptation Forum 17-19 October 2016 BMICH, Colombo.

Sri Lanka NEXT: "A Blue-Green Era" a national event organized to promote sustainable development in Sri Lanka through Blue-Green Economic initiatives was conducted with the objectives of gathering updated knowledge on local, regional and global efforts to address the issues on climate change and dissemination of associated knowledge to support the development agenda of Sri Lanka and to enhance the capacity to build the resilience of Sri Lanka by strengthening networking, coordination, coherence and synergies among stakeholders while providing a platform to share knowledge, best practices and experiences. The national event was coordinated by the Ministry of Environment. The Biodiversity for Food & Nutrition project (BFN) contributed to the event through facilitating Exhibition stalls depicting ecosystems & livelihoods in project pilot sites, use of agro-biodiversity for food & nutrition; Helabojun stall, with traditional food items; Stalls by BFN partners at the National Food Promotion Board and Community Development Centre; Presentation at the Research Symposium on “Addressing Food Insecurity by Conservation & Sustainable Use of Biodiversity in Sri Lanka” and Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Forum. The 5th Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Forum brought together policymakers, scientists, donors, youth, and representatives from over 50 countries. The forum was conducted by Dr. Pushpakumara, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, the panel of experts included Mrs. Abeykoon, Director, Biodiversity Secretariat, Dr. Samarasinghe, Deputy Director Plant Genetic Resources Centre & National Project Coordinator Biodiversity for Food & Nutrition Project and Mr. Liyanage, National Project Coordinator Biodiversity for Adaptation to Climate Change Project.
